About ByteMAL

byteMAL is a bioinformatics and systems biomedicine conference for young international researchers organized by the Universities of Maastricht, Aachen, and Liège.

This conference created by and for early-career researchers in the fields of bioinformatics and systems biomedicine, aims to provide a networking platform for knowledge and expertise exchange across borders. All are welcome to attend and present at byteMAL, but especially PhD candidates, post-docs and undergraduate students (master’s and bachelor’s).

We aim to vitalize communication amongst researchers from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. byteMAL has been hosted alternately by the Universities of Maastricht, Aachen and Liège over the last 9 years (although there was a gap due to the covid-19 pandemic). For the 6th anniversary of this event, the organisation of byteMAL returns to Aachen, and in person!

As researchers in related fields in neighboring regions we are excited to widen our perspectives by creating the opportunity to discuss methods, tools, challenges and successes with people of similar mindset. Participants will have the opportunity to be inspired by our interesting keynote speakers, present their own work, and discuss ideas and approaches with each other.

From Aachen Hbf (Hauptbahnhof/main train station):
- Take 13A, 13B bus and get out at Technische Hochschule, then it's a 2 minute walk to the venue.
From Aachen Bushof (main bus station):
- Take 1, 4, 7, 17, 27, 33, 37, 41, 43, 44, 47, 73, 147, 173 bus and get out at Driescher Gässchen, then it's a 5 minute walk to the venue.
From Aachen West (train station):
- It's a 10 minute walk to the venue.
